Kitchen Worktop Care and Maintenance
Granite and Marble always have varying differences in hardness and porosity. Marble and Granite worktops make an almost perfect work surface for kitchens and bathrooms.
Cleaning and Protection:
Keeping work surfaces clean is simple. Most cleaning can be carried out using just a little warm water and washing up liquid.
Some granites are definitely much more absorbent than others. Granite worktops require sealing which is carried out at our fabrication workshop shop before fitting. A sealed granite worktop will last for many years with periodical maintenance.
Clear up spillages immediately especially if they are Hot oil, acidic liquid such as red wine or citrus fruit juice or liquids such as beetroot or vinegar.
Do not leave ripe fruit flesh like raspberries, strawberries or lemons on the surface.
Use mats or trivets under hot dishes and all cookware.
Do not use any abrasives or corrosive liquids for cleaning!
Longevity:
A granite work surface will give many years of satisfactory service.
Avoid:
Cutting directly on the work top with sharp knives should be avoided, this is because you will damage the knife!
Cutting close to a work top edge could chip or damage the surface.
